Where's the Neon: When people think of Japan often the image one has in their mind is of neon lights, crowded cities, high technology, and bullet trains screaming past at 260km/h. You won't find any of that in Kobayashi! On the other hand maybe you're looking for traditional architecture, tranquil gardens, and Japanese art works. You won't find any of that in Kobayashi either!
So what will you find in Kobayashi (pop 80,000)1 Not much really, it is a bit of a depressing place, its only saving grace is views of the mountain range and the fact that its close to some good onsens (hot springs) and the Kirishima National Park.
