A Quick View of Fuji: As we went along on the Shinkansen the usual quietness (Japanese people tend not to talk much on trains, unless they are Yanquis!) of the carriage was broken by a murmur of "Fuji-san". Apparently it is quite rare to be able to to see Mount Fuji (or Fuji-san as it is called in Japanese) from the Shinkansen.1 I've only seen it that one time out of the six times that I have been past that section of the line. So I guess all of the advertisements which have the Shinkansen foreground with Mount Fuji in the background were very hard photos to get!
