The streets of the old foreign quarter: We continued on to the old foreign quarter (known as "Kitano" ref LP) of Kobe, which remarkably was spared from the earthquake. All of the houses were occupied by Europeans and Americans who lived there in the Meiji period (18681 to 19122).
Kobe still is a very cosmopolitan city (by Japanese standards) you can find a great variety of restaurants. You can also find places of worship for almost any religion there. 3
