The great view from Sakurajima.

Dangerous View: The first place we went to when we arrived on the island was to the visitors centre. Now if going to the island wasn't scary enough at the visitors centre there were photos, videos, and models of the volcano in action and of the damage it had done in the past. I also found out another thing, Sakurajima is home to the world's biggest daikon (Chinese Radish) and the world's smallest mandarins (which they make into wine).

After that we decided to go for a tour of the island and found that there was a bus load of people just as crazy as us to go to this place. Most of the other people on the bus were elderly Japanese men, the only other young people on the bus were a couple from Hong Kong.

As the bus took as around the island I noticed how great the views were (see the above photo) and it would probably be very expensive real estate if it wasn't for the volcano.
