
The Crater: Eventually our bus trip took us to a lookout where we could view the crater of the volcano, fortunately for us (although it would have made a spectacular photo) the volcano was not erupting. You will probably notice that there is quite a bit of vegetation around the crater, the last big eruption was in 1946 however the volcano is still very active.1

After finishing our tour of Sakurajima we headed back to Kagoshima and had dinner at an Izakaya (Japanese Pub), this Izakaya served Yakitori (Japanese chicken kebabs). After diner we went back to Ritsuko's brother's house and stayed another night there.
